Profound wounds lead to prolonged sadness. I fight relentlessly for joy, though it often feels just beyond my reach. But grief is not my only companion. My constant is Christ. I hurt, and I am held by the heart of God. And so are you, my friend.
If your heart hurts…if thanks-feeling is painfully absent, you have an offering that’s perhaps the most beautiful of all.
Beloved, don’t be afraid of lament. Faithful God will meet you there. As sure as the sun will rise again, new morning mercies will light up the long, dark night of the soul. Hope will shine again.
When my thoughts tangle and twist, press in and pound away at my peace, I sort them out again through the lens of scripture. That’s the secret — the word of Christ in me.
I find myself navigating the journey of grief after the recent loss of my mother. I do not yet know all the pathways grief will take. But, I do know the One who goes before me, who takes my trembling hand in His steady one and upholds me, step by step.
May we be encouraged in our calling as mothers to keep living out our faith with courage and all the grace and strength that God provides on our behalf.
